We are the SCHULE FÜR SCHAUSPIEL HAMBURG (SfSH): a state-approved and BAföG-supported acting school. Since 1992, we have committed ourselves with great enthusiasm to the training of young actors and actresses.
Our professional acting training is outstanding. For these efforts we received the Friedrich Schütter Prize in 2004.
We know that being an actor requires a tremendous commitment, dedication and passion. Therefore, right from the very first day, we do not allow any misunderstandings. And yes: training at the SfSH is tough and challenging enough to grasp what is important.
A key element of our work is to provide you, as a prospective actor, with a large repertoire of technical skills. Focusing on the diversity of methods, we teach all relevant acting methods that have been developed over the past hundred years. Michael Chekhov, Lee Strasberg or Konstantin Stanislawski - we introduce you to everything so that you can find out what works best for you.
We are especially proud to be able to offer you a degree in stage and/or screen acting. This means that you can select between a stage degree, a screen acting degree or both - the choice is yours!

WORKSHOPS FOR ACTORS AT HEART
The SCHULE FÜR SCHAUSPIEL HAMBURG is also the first cast if you are already employed and your heart beats for acting. To just give it a try, get a new approach to your imagination, improve your voice or presence - all of these options are possible with the SfSH workshops!!
The SfSH also offers courses for young people who are still uncertain about a career in acting and want to get their bearings. We not only offer the training, but also help to assess the experiences. Sometimes this also means being honest when we don't see enough potential for a professional acting career.

With over forty stages, Hamburg is one of the most important media and cultural cities in Germany and a centre of film and theatre culture. Whether Elbphilharmonie, Deutsches Schauspielhaus, Thalia Theater, Staatsoper Hamburg, John Neumeier's Hamburg Ballet, the musicals, Studio Hamburg, the NDR: There's just everything here. We are located in Hamburg's trendiest neighbourhood: in the middle of the Schanzenviertel. Let yourself be swept away by this unique atmosphere. We do it too - every day!
We have succeeded in becoming a part of the culture in this city over the last thirty-one years. Graduates and third year students perform at the Thalia Theater and the Schauspielhaus, as well as at the Kammerspiele, the Altonaer and the Ohnsorg Theater. Our graduates perform on all stages of the city and are in many film productions.
